Gallery v2.2.1 Codango Lab Review By: Veronica Herbine August 17th, 2007 |
Synopsis
Gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com/) is easy to install, packed with features, offers great support, and is absolutely free. It’s one of the most popular photo management applications out there and after testing, we certainly understood why! Gallery has everything you’d expect in a photo management application like thumbnail creation, resizing, rotation, and more. It also has some nice surprises like random image generation, border control, and the ability to customize the album tree’s appearance. If we had our wishes, we would have loved a built-in red-eye reduction and auto-levels tool. Of course that's just us being nit-picky and lazy. On a more serious note, we did find that the application had some rather concerning CPU-hogging performance issues. It’s not something we expected, but at least they do provide some recommendations on how to minimize it. All an all, we felt this was an impressive web application. Gallery is so feature-packed, even the most trigger-happy shutterbug is going to feel right at home.
