Strengths: Free, full source code, supported by small number of users and author, has all std functionality. Weaknesses: supported by small number of users and author, Source code cumbersome to edit manage, Visual Basic Details: When I first looked at v3.2 I was really existed as it used ASP.NET (VB) and MYSQL. Managed to integrate user authentication with my main application.
However, try and edit this with Visual Studio and you will see how badly the code is structured. Any page you open in VS looks cryptic and all the methods, events etc. are in several large classes. You cannot follow the codebehind for an event or a method by clicking on a control.
You constantly find yourself using search to locate the code you need. I did a lot of work on this before I realised how difficult it will be to manage the code via Visual Studio, and looking for another one.
Why on earth would you want to use MS technology and then use it in the most cumbersome way possible?
If on the other hand you don't use Visual Studio (like the author of this forum) then I would recommend this.

Strengths: Simple, clean screen. Very easy to install and customize. Worked with my SQL Server 2000 connection Weaknesses: It is what it is. Simple, no frills, no graphics. But that is what I wanted. Details: I have installed it on my server and tested it. Followed their instructions and they actually worked. Best of all it was free. Review Based On: 7 Day(s) of usage |
Good Forum but too basic looking Written by Anonymous User (#1499-172) from maryland (Saturday, October 28, 2006)

Strengths: Nice Clean look and feel, Conservative on graphics which I like Weaknesses: Does not use CSS to its full extent, Too Young, Not as responsive as I expected Details: This is the perfect forum for novice admins not for the power hungary admin. Also, if the creator released the source I would probably consider this forum. Review Based On: using demo only |

Strengths: normal basic forum function Weaknesses: insecurity using this encrypted code Details: I download and find that there's no source code, only compiled dll. Should put encrypted comment somewhere. Review Based On: using demo only
 | Rebuttal From Listing Owner: The software was previously released as freeware, however, beginning with version 3.1 it is now open source. |
