End to Hell?

Strengths: Support, ease of use control panel
Weaknesses: none so far, I'll keep you updated if anything comes up.
Details: After months of Hell driving through 3 different ASP hosts, slow, off and tons of errors and sites down, it seems we finally found the fastest most reliable ASP host.
Tech support is FAST and GOOD, don't be concerned about them not having telephone number, they are taking care of all issues in no time.
Try them and you wont be disappointed... we are on with them for 30 days and all is cool and great so far.
Count on me to keep you posted for good or wrong!
I would recommend, however, a different web analisys software, the livestats.xsp lacks required important information and settings flexibility. Also it is annoying as it request 3 long passwords every few minutes to log in.

Details: I use them to host a community starter kit for our homeowners association. It has NEVER,EVER crashed or been unavailable in the 1.5 years its been up. They do so much free stuff for you its insane: free controls, free asp2.0 test accounts, free setup and installation of CSK. And they've put up with my noob questions. They just rock. Period.

Strengths: Pretty much all of it.
Weaknesses: No Online Site/File Manager
Details: It scares me a little because, I haven't found anything wrong with these guys. If you find a less expensive service (this one is cheap), faster servers with the most current software updates and more free to use controls, let me know. I seriously doubt you will find anyone that compares. You can't please everyone and you should "discount" any negative reviews, because if you want true Windows hosting with the latest technology, fast and and sold servers discountASP is worth a really hard look. Their name should be QUALITYASP.

Solid Reliable Effective

Strengths: Lots of .Net controls, fast setup, solid uptime, excellent communication
Weaknesses: MySQL/MS SQL & subdomains are add-ons, no multi-domain hosting on same account
Details: I was a customer for a year. Moved to a Linux platform to merge a few seperate accounts into one. Recently I started having a business requirement for ASP.Net and I didn't hestitate. I signed up again right away. DiscountASP.Net might not be the prettiest website themselves but that's not that important. They've offer great services and above all excellent customer service. I've been with (and had clients with) a lot of hosts over the years and DiscountASP.Net is easily among the best Microsoft-based host I've dealt with.

Details: I have to Agree with David couple of reviews below..
When ever I have to sell the hosting to my clients. it's very difficult for me to convince them it's a good host. About 60% of the time first reply I get, after seeing the site is something to the tune "we really don't want to change the hosting to a company which may burst".. By looking at your website it doesn't assure them of a legible/dependable host. Then I have to refer them to various other reviews & alleviate their fear ( and not always been successful). As a designer I love what you offer but at the end of the day it's corporate clients who make the decisions. Most of them still buy web hosting like buying a car. ( known brand, expensive, overall look ->> A good host)
I don't have any problem with listing of features. It's a "obsessive' use of all colors . you have a nice banner why not develop a theme based on that color scheme.. instead of patching with yellow,Greeen/Red. Even if you remove Yellow alone it WILL look better ..trust me!
I am giving you 4 stars just to make sure this post gets some attention.

Bad Customer Policies

Details: Initially got aspdotnetrocks promotion with smaller bandwidth, virtual directory space and sql server space than general plan. Paid for initial 3 months. Found plan to be inadequate for bandwidth and space. Asked to convert over to general plan plus better sql addon. Was told would not receive remaining pro-rated credit for former plan toward new plan, unless I had cancelled before 30 day, when in fact the account had not been in use for 30 days!! In other words, you lose!
Was told I would have to cancel old plan, and re-sign up online and suffer downtime for asp.net host and sql host when upgrading/converting and have to re-upload ALL files, even though not certain they actually are moving me to another server anyway.
It seems extremely stupid that they insist on having "policies" that are forcing me to "cancel" instead of "transferring" or "upgrading"
an account.

DiscountASP.NET is not responsible for the customer not conducting a thourough due diligence on their site requirements. 2) Initial communications did not include account domain name, so the customer was given general responses. 3) As we explained to the customer, there are some technical issues that is preventing our billing system to handle changing plans at this time and we are working on resolving these issues. These are technical issues and not policies. 4) We understand the inconvenience, therefore, even though the customer was hosted for more than 30 days, we issued a full refund and it was up to the customer, if they decided to continue to host with us. 5) Despite this attempt at public humiliation, this customer chooses to remain hosted at DiscountASP.NET. |

Be very careful with Discountasp.net

Details: To understand Discountasp.net's customer service, just read the rebuttals they leave in this forum. They cannot take critisism nor do they want to improve their service.
I bought a one year package with them in Dec 2004 but their poor customer service lead me to leave them for a new host. They are now refusing to refund my remaining seven month balance so I am paying for hosting that I don't use. Even though, their cancellation policy clearly states "accounts are canceled within 48 hours." Read their Knowledge Base if you don't believe me.
As for low standards. Discountasp offers. 100 MB MSSQL, 550MB Disk and 12 GB Transfer for 1 domain at $20 a month. 5 domains would be $100 a month.
My new host offers 2GB MSSQL, 2GB Diskspace, UNLIMITED transfer and 20 domains. $39 a month, TOTAL!!!
The only reason I used them is I didn't know better. I hope this helps a lot of realize there is way better hosts out there.

They are attempts at public humiliation to vent frustration. 2. This customer cancelled several accounts. We also give 3 months free for annual accounts. Cancellations are reviewed case by case. We did refund monies for some cancellations. Our Billing policies are publicly available and the customer agrees to the terms when signing up for hosting. 3. We are unsure of the poor customer service issue mentioned. The customer asked for features that we do not offer and never stated that we offer. 4. It is a free market, so if large amounts or unlimited server resources are required and offered elswhere, then we wish them the best. However, large or unlimited server resources does not mean better service. We would encourage all to conduct their own due diligence on their hosting provider choices, beyond a simplistic resource amount comparison. |

Details: Over the past year I have tried a number of companies providing ASP.net hosting, and have experienced so-so service. After reading some very good reviews about DiscountASP.net, I decided to try them and so far have not looked back. Their turnaround - from the initial setup of my account, to setting up additional components, to answering questions - has been flawless and superquick to date. How refreshing to deal with a company who builds its solid reputation on good old fashioned customer service. The list of features you get for your money is very long. Server speed has been extremely fast and reliable. Account menu and configurations area is extremely easy to use - ordering additional components very simple process. Pricing is extremely competitive for those on tight budgets or who have a large qantity of sites to host.
