I abandon VPS/VDS/Decidated Servers for GoGrid
Written by Ryan Lin from Singapore   (Wednesday, February 04, 2009)

Strengths:   Cost effective, Great Support and Best interface
Weaknesses:   Not suitable for users with no or little server admin experience
Details:   Technical support used to be suck but have improved a great deal over the months. Now the support is very responsive (in less than 1hour) and personnel are experienced in handling problems. Cost wise: very effective compare to most of dedicated and VPS providers out there. Used to have VPS with MediaTemple and several vendors, but I have saved around 50% by moving to GoGrid. Go for pre-paid packages those who want to get the best price! You won't get GoGrid level of support with AWS and everything means money in AWS including load balancing (which is free with GoGrid), in-bound transfer, IP addresses and premium support. Plus there is a free cloud storage comes with every account and it supports traditional FTP and multiple level of folders. Yet, GoGrid is not suitable if you have never managed any VPS/VDS/Dedicate server without any automation tool (Cpanel, Plesk and etc). You need to have server administration experience through SSH (for Linux) or Remote Desktop (for Windows).

GoGrid Serves Me Well
Written by Shannon Whitley from San Francisco, CA   (Wednesday, February 04, 2009)

Strengths:   Advanced User Interface, Easy Server Creation Process, Responsive Support Staff, Lower Costs
Weaknesses:   Learning curve for first-time administrators
Details:   I installed my first GoGrid server in July of 2008. I started out deploying test servers, but I've been running in production since October 2008. My uptime has been excellent, performance is great, and the few times that I've had to contact support, the response time has been good. As an individual developer, I needed the control that comes with a dedicated server at a lower cost than is typical of physical machines. GoGrid meets my needs perfectly. The weakness I mentioned is more of a warning to new users than a criticism of GoGrid. When you create a new server, you are responsible for everything (including setting up FTP services). This is very different for someone who is looking to graduate beyone shared hosting.

GoGrid cloud computing is a little wet

Strengths:   Easy to deploy images
Weaknesses:   poor pricing, low stability, very poor support, bad invoices layout
Details:   Dreadfully poor uptime, front line support with minimal experience. Heavily advertised as competitively priced against Amazon EC2, but only if you are willing to pay and deploy minimum of 7 servers for a month. Even advised by ServerPath after an escalation that gogrid wasn't suitable for production

GoGrid Beware The Billing
Written by Anonymous User (#1495-269) from uk   (Wednesday, September 24, 2008)
Strengths:   GoGrid technically nice solution
Weaknesses:   Billing process is unacceptable
Details:   Tried gogrid and configured 3 servers, found the technical support responsive. However, after three weeks received an email message at midnight notifying me that my account was cancelled. Tried to login to resolve the issue (8 hours later) and was unable to. Contacted the billing department (had to wait another 8 hours - they are not available 24/7)who informed me there had been a problem receiving payment from my cfredit card, even though I had received a receipt indicating no problems with payment only two days earlier! The GoGrid billing representative informed me that they had sent an email 1 day earlier which I had not received. I explained that even had a received that single email, chopping off a server after one email is unacceptable because they can get lost! The attitude was astonishing - it seems they are quite happy to send out 'everythin is o.k. message' one day and terminate your account the next! I liked the ability to deploy servers, but the billing is a nightmare!
