Very Old Technology

Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Everything
Details: The software is based on a very old technology which is being phased out. Beware if you are buying this as you may have to invest in some other software in months from now. They have given lot of options which confuses the customer rather than helps. The tech support is worst. Their answers are never to the point.

Struggles with the UK market!

Weaknesses: This software struggles to cope with the tax (VAT) calculations in the UK.
Details: This software struggles to cope with the tax (VAT) calculations in the UK. We have had to develop many work arounds to sort this, and even now it is difficuly. Overall though, a good system.

Weaknesses: So much functionality that it can be tough to take it all in

Buggy Order Page Mars Otherwise Good Product

Strengths: Many excellent features
Weaknesses: Buggy order page costs some orders
Details: Volusion did a major revision last year (4.0)that fixed a number of faults and added many new features. They also solved some server capacity related issues by moving to Rack Space. Unfortunately, the overhaul of the order page was less successful. Since the revision, I have received a relatively small but persistent stream of bug reports from customers about problems that prevent them from placing their orders(like repeatedly getting asked to supply a new password for no reason). Volusion has a customers support forum and I have seen similar reports from other users in the past, but Volusion now deletes any such reports. I have complained to their tech people many times about this, but they "can't replicate the problem." Who knows how many orders this is costing us?

Great software, even better support!

Strengths: Very customizable with endless features
Weaknesses: Takes some time to learn what all the options/settings do.
Details: After a couple months of searching, I choose Volusion because it had the most robust set of features available. This software has so many options and settings to customize how it works, it's almost like having custom software written specifically tailored to my business.
Every time I turn around they are adding new features and improving old ones. Features like the drop ship vendor integration and affiliate system are built right in. Other systems I've looked at require additional subscriptions to get these features.
And the best part is the support is great. Always willing to help you learn the software, and always willing to listen to customer suggestions to improve the software.

Great Software

Strengths: SEO friendly, complete control, advanced features, everything built in, no hidden fees
Weaknesses: currently no foreign language support
Details: I've been using this for well over a year and am continually impressed. I looked for 3 months before deciding on an ecommerce solution and this was the best of the best. The most helpful part is the static pages it creates for seo, as well as the built in marketing tools. All the features are included, so there are no add on modules, and they are always adding new features at no additional cost. Highly recommend this one if you looking for a robust shopping cart. If you're a total novice all this functionality may be a little overwhelming, so this is mainly recommended for established ecommerce businesses.
