Strengths: None Weaknesses: No download available Details: No download available has been available for over a year. It appears that the developers are AWOL and the site is left to its members. The remaining members say that work is being done, but no one really knows for sure. You will be better off looking elsewhere. It does not look like a download of the software is in anyones future. Stick a fork in them... they are done. Review Based On: 1 Day(s) of usage |

Strengths: Easy of Installation, tons of people with excellent support. Best portal you will ever use. Weaknesses: None to speak of Details: I have installed and attempted to use many portals over the years. I stumbled across soop totally by accident. I have so glad I did. I have met many people who without cost have provided support like I have never seen. You really can not go wrong. The developers are always improving the code and tons of people create custom mods all the time. Review Based On: 24 Month(s) of usage |

Shaky Future? Written by Anonymous User (#1625-248) from Lexington, Ky (Monday, November 13, 2006)

Strengths: Forums Weaknesses: Not available for download Details: Seems to be a little disagreement between SoopPortal and the creator of the fortums that Soop is built around. Apparently they are not allowed to make the forums available to the general public to download anymore. Therefore they had to remove the download until such a time as they write their own forums? In the meantime, I had to find another solution. Best of luck to the Soop devs in getting a new product released. Review Based On: 1 Hour(s) of usage |

Strengths: non-techies can manage site. Butt-load of 3rd-party mods. Active dev community Weaknesses: need some tech bg to get going. Details: 4 out of 5 projects I'm managing are soop-based, with a quick startup and high user-satisfaction. Most shortcomings successfully addressed by 3rd party developers. Best in price category. All about forums Written by Anonymous User (#1349-166) from Philadelphia, PA. (Monday, June 12, 2006)

Strengths: Forums work Weaknesses: Nothing but forums Details: While SooP looks nice, it is missing many features that you expect from a CMS. Where are the Articles, Photo Gallery, Download manager? If you want a site strictly for forums, then check this one out. Instead of SoopPortal, it should be SoopForum. If you are looking for a real CMS, then this is not for you. Strengths: Free, good support, easy to use, easy to mod Weaknesses: Are there any? Details: I have been using Soop for over two years, and the latest version Raven 1.0 is an excellent peice of work. I run a site that is based on forums, but also uses a number of free mods. Soop has excellent support. The portal is easy to use and easy to administer. The code is easy to adapt and mods are freely available. Review Based On: using demo only |
Very good portal Written by thomas weber from Zürich, Switzerland (Wednesday, February 08, 2006) Writer is with: http://www.uuweb.ch

Strengths: quite complete, easy to install & use, and extendable Weaknesses: have no in mind Details: I'm looking for a portal for personal projects and this one fits best of the one I tested. And most important, the authors help in case of need.
Another plus is that there are a lot of extentions (modules) that are developed to ad or you can develope and insert in a proper structure. Review Based On: 11 Month(s) of usage |
