It's a time saver Written by Anonymous User (#1692-353) from Florida (Monday, May 15, 2006)

Strengths: Fast, simple, effective Weaknesses: No conversion to .NET Details: I got the demo of cfm2asp to see if it would convert to .Net, unfortunetely it does not. Still, the time saved by converting CFM into VBScript was still worth the download and very short learning curve. Review Based On: 15 Day(s) of usage |
Simple, Perfect Written by Anonymous User (#1613-99) from Fairfax, VA (Monday, August 08, 2005)

Strengths: Simple, Works as Described Weaknesses: None Details: Put in CF code, ASP code came out the other end. Worked just the way it was advertised. Perfect. Review Based On: using demo only |
As an ASP programmer I love it. Written by Anonymous User (#1646-320) from Santa Rosa CA (Thursday, June 17, 2004)

Strengths: Great Tag conversion, Great Variable scope conversion Weaknesses: Not so good on functions. Details: I've been programming with CFM and ASP for nearly 10 years and have had to convert between them many times. Most of the work comes down to tedious rewriting of simple code. CFM2ASP did all of the tedious part in seconds. All that was left were the changes that had to be made to the database layout during conversion.
I'm glad this tool exists, it saved me many hours of work. Review Based On: 5 Day(s) of usage |
It does convert Written by Anonymous User (#1730-338) from San Mateo, CA (Friday, May 28, 2004)

Strengths: saves hours of rewriting tedious string concatenation changes. Weaknesses: Doesn't do CFM MX yet Details: I use both CFM and ASP frequently so I wouldn't have a problem doing this conversion myself, but I hoped to save some time. It did save me many hours so that was worth it.
I wish it could convert to CFM MX but it doesn't. For instance it doesn't convert the MX variable scope Attributes.
It does however convert URL, FORM, Application, Cookie, CGI, and Session variables pretty reliably as long as you referenced them correctly.
If you are looking to save some time this tool will do that. It isn't complicated to use at all.

Needs work before useful to advanced programmers Written by Anonymous User (#1617-345) from San Diego, CA (Friday, May 21, 2004)

Strengths: Interesting Idea Weaknesses: Poorly implemented. Missing variable scopes, variables handling, etc. Details: I am an expert Coldfusion programmer. After using this program for a short while I have concluded that this is NOT a tool that professional programmers would use to convert from CF to ASP. It is missing critical things such as a complete list of variable scopes (attributes scope missing, etc.). It also doesn't correctly work when variables are passed into a page.
I think this would be useful for novice programmers or someone trying to hack someone else's CF program.
With revisions, I think this COULD be an interesting and useful tool.

Strengths: simple , effective Weaknesses: not 100% complete Details: I know CFM but very little about ASP but I have a loyal customer who demanded a site be made in ASP... So I searched for fast methods of learning ASP. Finally I stumbled into CFM2ASP on a tek-tips forum. I tried out the demo and was pleasantly surprised. It worked well and had a simple interface. There are so many differences between CFM and ASP that this program is amazing. It fills in Database connection strings, converts almost all tags a bunch of functions and every variable reference I have ever used. I recommend it to anyone who uses both languages. The only thing I found that it didn't convert for me was sending emails. I found plenty of help doing that online so it didn't really slow me down. Review Based On: 2 Month(s) of usage |
I never thought it could. Written by Anonymous User (#1798-365) from australia (Saturday, August 02, 2003)

Strengths: fast, easy Weaknesses: not all tags, or functions are converted. Details: I used CFM2ASP to convert a large site from Coldfusion to ASP. It took several months to write the CFM site, but only a week to convert to ASP. From having done this project before without CFM2ASP I can say this is an amazing savings of time.
Thanks to BeachBum Software for this excellent product.
I will be watching for more tags and functions to be supported.
