Strengths: Looks nice Weaknesses: System breaks requiring detailed knowledge to construct work arounds Details: 1. After Initial Installation my system was automatically closed by Store Front three times due to their error. These were about two weeks apart. I kept getting mysterious messages saying my trial (I bought the system for $595) was about to expire, and then my legitimate system would be shut down.
2. The system is inflexible and hard for customers to use because of its misleading menu items that cannot be changed.
3. I could not update my products because of a software bug. I wrote support and they sent me this message "Hello Ray,
Sometimes the “apply to site” does not run correctly to enforce changes in the SSL. The file that is run is called reloadxml.aspx. This file also exists in the SSL and can be run manually to enforce the changes. EX: http://SSL path here/reloadxml.aspx. If there are any further questions, please let us know.

I found this support to be worthless. When I complained, they ignored me, choosing not to answer at all.

Strengths: Well supported, good industry acceptance Weaknesses: Performance sux, DB objects hard-coded into ASP Details: Hard coding of the DB schema is littered throughout the ASP code.
There is no abstraction at all between the scripts and the DB.
Therefore, if you do any customization of the DB at all, the scripts will quickly break.
Not a horrible implementation but it is clear that they need to hire an enterprise/DB developer and fix this horrible architecture that prevents good customization in the enterprise.

Strengths: Easy to install, customize. STOREFRONT has great EASY-TO-FOLLOW Templates. Weaknesses: Costly. Upgrades and full are costly Details: Storefront delivers all what you would want in a shopping cart. I bought Storefron 5.0 in 2000 and have been very satisfied. No complaints.
The only drawback (as compared to other products on aspin) is the price. Storefront is a little bit more expensve for the same features that VPASP or uniwin offer. However, STOREFRONT's merchant tools make the difference. It takes me about 5 times longer to work in VPASP/YOURVIRTUAL CART admin control panel than in Storefront's. Unlike the former, STOREFRONT has EASY-TO-FOLLOW templates for almost everything. Review Based On: 40 Month(s) of usage |
