Details: ZBit Zip is an easy to implement Objekt for ASP, that packs and unpacks all Files you want. It works fast in all circumstances, and ahs an easy error handling.

Great little thing for the price

Strengths: Works without any problems for free.
Weaknesses: Doesn't have any of the advanced features.
Details: For the cost (none) I couldn't find any other component that works. This one is very simple but works just fine. I like the fact that you are working with the component DLL iself and do not need to run any compicated setups that mess everything around. 5 stars for clean product!

Details: The product works very well, is light and above all is FREE!! Of all the products that was testing (all free) this is one of the few that function well, and it is super simple to use.

It couldn't unzip itself

Strengths: Cheap, Small and easy
Weaknesses: First test failed
Details: I used the test code as supplied on the website. I applied everyone/full control permissions to a directory.
The zip file i downloaded, i renamed that to test.zip, but when i unzipped it, out of the 5 files, only 3 unzipped.
Here are the files that unzipped:
LICENSE_TRIAL.txt
setup.bat
readme.txt
Files which did not unzip:
pnvzip.dll
pnvzip.tlb
Due to this failing, i decided to look for a component where i wouldn't get people saying their files didn't unzip.

 | Rebuttal From Listing Owner: As it clearly states on our web site, the limitation of the trial version is that it only allows zipping and unzipping up to 3 files. We provide this information in FAQ section for the product, as well as on the page where trial version can be downloaded.
This limitation was created on purpose to encourage the purchases. The release version of the product does not have such limitation. |

Strengths: Simple, Fast, Effective, Stable, Inexpensive
Weaknesses: None for our application
Details: We had to offer downloads of all the videos on our pay site which were previously streaming .wmv files. In less than an hour we wrote and implemented a script that checkes to see if a .zip exists if not one is created (fast), the page loads and hey presto video ready for download and no mime type issues to deal with.

Details: I am usually reluctant on using third party components for our development. With this one, however, it tried to crash it very hard simulating 200 simultaneous user sessions constantly hitting the server to zip up several files each and didn’t find any problems. I guess, because it is small it has less potential problem areas. I didn't try their pro version but this one works just great for what I need to do. And the price is right. |
