Great ASP.Net hosting.

Strengths: No downtime, fast servers and great support.
Weaknesses: Can't think of any.
Details: Been looking for a solid host for our ASP.Net site for some time. We eventually found Protec and have been very happy since signing up with them over a year ago.
Support have been extremely helpful at ensuring our application and various 3rd party components where installed and running efficiently.
A fully recommended .Net host.

Weaknesses: Slow servers, a Lot of Downtime
Details: We started using Protec in 2004 as resellers for some of our business. They were good at the time, with our static websites. Responsive support also.
BUT as soon as we started to use dynamic ASP and databases, we saw how slow the servers were (probably slow/old equipment and overloaded) and how unstable they were. Sometimes 20seconds to render an ASP page !!!
They support knows the problems and apparently downplays them, replying in a highly snobish way (rude sometimes i could say).
They CAN'T be reached on the phone and their servers are in US and not UK.
Since there are plenty of choices, they should be avoided.

 | Rebuttal From Listing Owner: It seems this client became problematic end of last year. We tried to work with the client many times to resolve his issues but didn’t get very far with him. His persistence to use outdated code and flat file data sources meant his application would never perform on an enterprise level like he wanted.
Many times we advised him to utilise SQL server for his applications backend for enterprise performance. His account included SQL server at no additional cost.
Not sure what else to say really. We do not have any performance issues with any other clients. So it was an isolated case based on this clients persistence of using unrecommended data source types and outdated code styles.
If anyone is concerned about performance of their applications by all means try our £1 trial for a month. Or contact us and we would be happy to put your application on a test URL. You can then test it on our network at no charge before you make any decision to purchase hosting from us.

Details: We provide an Automated Online Software Activation Service to our customers. As you can imagine a problem with our web host would be extremely inconvenient to all our clients. We have been hosted with Protec for over 3 years now and utilise 24 hour remote monitoring. I have never known a host to offer comparable ASP, dedicated SSL and ODBC services to Protec. Their support service is both approachable and instantaneous. Without doubt the success of our business owes much to their unfaultable service.

Details: There is nothing like "word of mouth" business and I was refered to protecweb by a friend. I have never looked back, from that day I have been very impressed by the high level of service that the company offers. They are approachable and respond to any issues within minutes. I will be recommending them to friends and actively promote them in forums. I already have a resellers account! I have other web sites planned and will be using your service!

Strengths: **TECHNICAL SUPPORT!** Range of components, reliability of hosting.
Weaknesses: It's more expensive than some Linux hosting I've seen, but then Windows hosting always is anyway.
Details: I went with Protec the first time I needed Windows hosting. I came straight back for the second time, and when I need it a third time, no prizes for guessing who I'll be using! The hosting itself is superb - never any reliability issues, and I've really benefited from the range of features and components available. Their willingness to install third-party components is a real plus too. But what sets Protec apart is the support. Speedy and helpful, it's really made a difference. Replies come within minutes and solve the problem every time.

Details: I have used many website hosts over the last five years and have had problems with all of them.
After looking around I found the reviews of Protec and thought they were to good to be true, but thought I would give them a go.
This was by far the best move I have ever made, the support is second to nobody, the packages are reasonably priced and the service is quite simply the best their is, I would not consider moving from them for a hosting company that was one-tenth of the price!!

Details: I just had to come and write this review. It's 9pm at night and I just got an email response from the support team just minutes after I emailed saying I'd crashed my site with a script problem. All my previous hosts would take days to reply to anything. And this isn't the first time they reply fast! In fact, responses within minutes not hours are the norm.
I chose this host because of price (their reseller account gives me a lot of space relatively cheaply; I couldn't find Windows hosting space cheaper). But they really have turned out to be top quality.

Details: We are writing to say a big thank you for the most amazing support from our web host Protecweb.co.uk we have ever experienced in anything, not just the web but any area of business.
The web can be a daunting place and building your own web site can be a little easier with some of the software around BUT, and its is big but, nothing compares to the voice of a knowledgeable person on the other end of a phone line. As such a large part of our business is web based from sales to enquiries we see our relationship with Protec as a business partnership. Sam has personally set up pages for us, corrected code errors and always been totally supportive. He has helped our site achieve top 10 rating in most search engines by ensuring our site is there and working well.
We have been checked for quite a few months by another company advising on down time etc. Never a moment, simply perfect connections and 100% uptime.

Strengths: fast hosting, fast support, lots of extras. Great value
Weaknesses: Online knowledge base is limited (support makes up for this)
Details: Before signing up for a new host I had a few questions to ask. Protec answered within minutes and the few questions I've had since have been answered just as quick.
The hosting package is great value, with lots of services included. Both the website hosting and databases are fast and reliable. With all of the new technologies Protec are a great host for future developments.
Protec are everything you would need in a host, with support that is top quality.
